Dance Conservatory School Year Auditions – August 16

All students enter our ballet program (except for Creative Movement) through a placement class or audition. During this class, our artistic directors and faculty assess the best level for each student based on ability rather than age.

Each August, we host an audition day before the start of our new school season. If you can’t make our annual auditions, please reach out to “shannon@lafayetteballettheatre.org” to schedule a placement class.

Audition Times

Please arrive 10 minutes early to register.

Sunday, Sept. 13:
1:00 pm –1:45pm  – Ages 6-8  yrs 

2:00pm – 3:00pm – Ages 9-10 yrs 

3:15pm – 4:30pm  – Ages 11-13 yrs

4:45pm -6:15pm – Ages 14-18 yrs

Parents are not allowed in the building for auditions. Water fountains are open. We encourage dancers to bring a water bottle from home.

ADDITIONAL Details

Audition dress code for females: Solid colored leotard, pink tights, pink slippers and pointe shoes, if age appropriate. Please do not purchase any dance items for auditioning. Tight fitting shorts, shirt and socks will be acceptable. A dress code with specific slippers and uniform leotard will be required if acceptance is obtained. Hair must be pulled up, preferably in a bun.

Audition dress code for males:  black tights or shorts of any color, T-shirt and ballet slippers or socks. 

Age limits: Our Creative Movement classes are for students ages 4 – 5 years, and there is no placement class/audition needed. Maximum age for school’s Level 6 is 18 years. Dancers must receive placement into Lafayette Ballet Theatre, if over this age. Minimum age for professional employment is 18 years. Please call to arrange professional audition.
