Advanced Division:

Programs for ages 16-19

Our Advanced Division is for dancers ages 16–19 who are dedicated students ready to refine their artistry, technique, and professional readiness. This pre-professional level training focuses on strengthening classical foundations while advancing complex movement vocabulary, pointe work, and performance quality.

This program fosters discipline, resilience, and a deep appreciation for the art of ballet, empowering dancers to reach their highest potential both on and off the stage.

Performance Opportunities:

In addition to technical development, students are guided in artistic expression, stage presence, and storytelling. Dancers of this level are given the opportunity to perform leading variations in all performances of Lafayette Ballet Theatre; as well as perform with principal guest artists from international companies. Performance opportunities help dancers build confidence and prepare for collegiate dance programs or professional company auditions.

Advanced Division Audition

All students enter our ballet program through a placement class or audition. During this class, our artistic directors and faculty assess the best level for each student based on ability rather than age.

Each August, we host an audition day before the start of our new school season. If you can’t make our annual auditions, please reach out to “shannon@lafayetteballettheatre.org” to schedule a placement class.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this program right for my student?
The Dance Conservatory has been training dancers for over 40 years. Our Advanced Division provides rigorous classes 4-5 days a week that emphasize precision, strength, flexibility, and musicality. The program incorporates advanced barre and center work, intricate combinations, and variations from classical repertoire, alongside contemporary and conditioning classes to support versatility and injury prevention. We are committed to providing a positive learning environment, which includes performance opportunities.
Where are classes held?
All classes are held in our 6,000 sq-ft facility (located at 201 Petroleum Drive) which has two studios. Each studio features Harlequin sprung floors that offer better protection from dance-related injuries such as impact, slipping, or falling.
